something I need to learn myself looks like you are off to a great start.
I've had PSE4 for what (??) 2+ years now and I still dont know what the heck I'm doing most of the time! It takes so much playing and searching around to figure everything out. Looks like you're off to a good start. The only thing I might mention is that his skin seems quite yellow. . . You could probably play with levels and hue/saturation to fix it. :)
I'd also suggest maybe playing with color variations? (that;s in PSE2, not sure what it would be under 6, but I find it in "enhance"!)
Delightful! Very nice job for just learning PSE6! For anyone who's interested, Jessicasprague.com has wonderful online classes and just posted info on her blog re: when she's running another 4 week beginner class. It is very worth the $50 or so that it costs.
looks like a good start! he does seem to be a bit yellow, but i have no idea how to tell you to fix that in PSE. keep practicing and it'll start to become second nature!

Keep up the great work. The photo still seems a bit dark, but a little more practice and you will get it for sure!
I think your photoshopping helped this photo quite a bit, but you have to remember that photoshop can only do so much for a photo that is not properly exposed in the first place (this one is a little underexposed). You may also want to address the color cast issue - seems to be a tad yellow in the skin.
I hope this helps - these are things I've been working on religiously for some time now so I just wanted to point them out to hopefully help out.

I third escrappers. Also if you do a google search for PSE elements and the version you have, you should come up with lots of help online. I have just barely touched the tip of the iceberg myself.
You did a good job brightening this up, but I think it could use even a little more. Skin tone looks yellow, though. Maybe try a cooling filter?
You certainly brightened it up and I do like the closer crop. Keep up the fun.

Good job for just starting out in PS. I am just learning PS as well and my first attempts at PPing were nowhere near this.
I like the crop, I think it made a big difference. Have fun with the new software. I love Scott Kelby's style. He has a book for every version of photoshop.

PS definitely takes some practice, but you have started really well. I'm not so keen on the closer crop, but it seems I'm out numbered.
